Frequently Asked Questions
WHAT IS HEMP?
Hemp is the fastest growing crop in the world. After it is planted, it takes 3 to 4 months before the plant is fully grown and can be harvested. The plant is able to grow on all kinds of different soils because the roots go very deep and can easily reach water. These properties make hemp very easy to grow. Hemp plants are grown completely organically in the open air in the Netherlands, Austria and Switzerland, among others.
Although hemp is a related species, it should not be confused with cannabis plants. The hemp plant naturally contains a high percentage of CBD or Cannabidiol. And only a small amount ( We are heading into a future in which hemp is becoming increasingly important. The more use is made of hemp, the better for the environment. Besides the fact that the hemp plant is an easy to grow crop, this plant has even more advantages with regard to sustainability: Without us being aware of it, hemp is used in many different products. Think for example of paper, clothing, fireworks, rope, in construction as insulation material, straw for rodents or horses and car bodies. Hemp seed oil is used in the kitchen for cold dishes and is considered a superfood. In the last 10 years, hemp has also been popular as a food supplement for humans and animals thanks to the active ingredient CBD.
• The plant is not bothered by insects, so no pesticides are needed. This is good news because pesticides, when used too much, are very harmful to the environment.
• The plant automatically prevents the growth of weeds. For this reason, hemp crops do not need to be protected from weeds, which saves a large amount of weed killers.
• The crop needs little water to grow because the roots of hemp go very deep. Usually, to water plants, an irrigation system is installed, which is intensive work. This is not necessary for growing hemp.
• The plant can be used as a 'cleaning crop' to purify waste water. It brings vital nutrients back into the soil and removes chemicals. In this way the earth is restored in a natural way.
APPLICATIONS OF HEMP:
We are heading into a future in which hemp is becoming increasingly important. The more use is made of hemp, the better for the environment. Besides the fact that the hemp plant is an easy to grow crop, this plant has even more advantages with regard to sustainability:

WHAT IS CBD?
CBD stands for Cannabidiol and is one of the 104 cannabinoids that occur naturally in the hemp plant. Cannabinoids are the active substances in the hemp plant. CBD and THC are the most well-known and researched cannabinoids. Unlike THC, CBD is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid, which means that CBD does NOT have a stoned or high effect. The active ingredient CBD is extracted from the flower tops of the hemp plant. In recent years, many studies have been conducted on CBD, which has made CBD products accepted to support general health as a dietary supplement for humans and animals.
HOW ARE HEMP EXTRACTS MADE WITH CARE?
Once the harvest has been completed, the plant material is first pressed and then filtered. To carefully remove CBD from the flower buds, this is done with a super critical CO² extraction method. By exposing the plant material to extreme cold for a longer period of time, the CBD will separate from the plant material over time. Carbon dioxide is forced through the hemp under great pressure. This process creates a full-spectrum CBD paste. A full-spectrum paste has all the active cannabinoids from the hemp plant. Such as CBG, CBDA, CBD, CBC, CBN and a little bit of THC. After this, the paste is diluted with a carrier oil, often this is olive oil. For pets, the CBD is often diluted with salmon oil. In this way, manufacturers can develop different percentages of hemp oil with the active ingredient CBD and they are made with care.
WHAT IS HEMP OIL?
Hemp oil naturally contains the active ingredient CBD and is a legal dietary supplement that can be obtained without a prescription. The natural dietary supplement is available in different percentages. Now that there are more and more studies into the special properties of the hemp plant, more hemp products are also coming onto the market. As a result, there are now also hemp sheep fat chocolates, hemp sticks, hemp cookies and cat treats with hemp for our pets.
IS AN ANALYSIS LAB REPORT IMPORTANT?
The popularity of CBD is increasing rapidly with the result that it is available for sale almost everywhere. Unfortunately, it is impossible to hold a bottle of hemp oil up to the light to see if it contains the active cannabinoids. Because CBD has a Novelfood status in Europe, there is no control over this. That is why it is increasingly important that you are sure that you are giving safe hemp oil to your pet. CannaBioDay allows all products to be tested independently and shows the analysis lab report publicly. Based on the batch code stated on the label, you can check the analysis lab report online yourself to see which active cannabinoids the product contains.
CAN MY PET GET HIGH OR STONED FROM HEMP OIL?
No, your pet cannot get high or stoned. Given its association with cannabis, some owners do not consider giving hemp oil to their pets out of fear. And that's a shame because hemp oil is extracted from natural hemp, and is non-psychoactive. (your pet will NOT get stoned or high) CannaBioDay's hemp oil is extracted from organically grown and fully certified hemp from Switzerland. All CannaBioDay hemp products are rigorously tested in the laboratory to ensure quality. As a result, the bottles have a batch number so that you can view the analysis lab report yourself online.
WHY THE ADDITION OF SALMON OIL AND OLIVE OIL?
CannaBioDay's hemp oil has been specially developed for cats and dogs. Because of this it contains salmon oil and a little bit of olive oil. Thanks to the addition of salmon oil, it is rich in unsaturated fatty acids Omega 3 & Omega 6. These fats are known to have a beneficial effect on heart and blood vessels, reduce joint complaints, take care of the coat and moisture content in the skin. In addition, the high-quality formula also contains vitamin E thanks to the addition of olive oil. This important antioxidant provides protection against cell and tissue damage. The formula also supports the digestive system, the energy level and ensures a healthy skin and coat of your pet.
HOW DOES HEMP OIL WORK IN YOUR PET'S BODY?
Just like us humans, our pets also feel joy, pain, fear, stress and love, but they also have the endocannabinoid system abbreviated the ECS. In recent years, many studies have been conducted on the ECS. Your pet's body produces substances that are very similar to cannabinoids from the hemp plant, namely endocannabinoids. The CBD from the hemp is able to bind to receptors that are part of the body's own ECS. These receptors act as signalers and regulate all important processes in the body. The ECS plays a role in the important organs, areas of the brain, the nervous system and the immune system, partly because of this CBD is widely applicable. More and more pet owners are giving their pet CBD as a supplementary feed for anxiety, insomnia, lack of appetite, chronic pain, inflammation and skin or coat problems.
DOES HEMP OIL HAVE SIDE EFFECTS?
Hemp oil has no side effects, it may interact with other medications. Hemp oil is broken down by the same liver enzyme, so it can strengthen medicines or medicines can stay in the body longer than necessary. If your pet is taking medication, it is advisable to first consult with your veterinarian. Even if your pet has serious complaints, always contact your vet first to determine whether medical treatment is necessary. During pregnancy and lactation it is not wise to give hemp oil because insufficient research has been done on this.

Questions about hemp snacks for pets
Will my pet get stoned or high from hemp snacks?
No, your pet will not get stoned or high. True hemp products only contain hemp seed and cold pressed hemp seed oil. The products are 100% safe and do not contain the active ingredient CBD.
How many hemp snacks can I give my pet?
We recommend that you follow the label's recommended guidelines, based on your pet's weight. As indicated on the label, we recommend that you split the daily amount into 2 portions (1 part in the morning and part in the evening).
What if my pet accidentally eats the whole bag?
This can happen of course. We know from experience that some stomach upset can occur. Consult your vet if you are concerned.
Why are hemp snacks healthy for your pet?
- Hemp contains Omega-6 (linoleic acid) and Omega-3 (alpha-linolenic acid). These are essential fatty acids, these fatty acids must be included in the diet. They play an important role in the functioning of the cardiovascular system, the brain, hormones and the immune system.
- Hemp is also rich in another form of Omega-6, which is gamma linoleic acid (GLA). With a good diet, your dog can produce this substance itself, but unfortunately this does not happen with some animals. A deficiency of GLA manifests itself in a reduced immune system.
- Hemp rich in proteins from vegetable sources, these are easily digestible. Proteins are necessary for muscle building and endurance.
- In addition to all healthy fatty acids, hemp also contains an amount of antioxidants and enzymes, including lecithin. Lecithin plays a role in healthy liver function.
Why are products of True Hemp grain free?
Grains containing gluten are found in pet foods. These are added for binding the chunks and provide a relatively 'cheap' filling. However, your pet's diet consists mainly of meat, which makes digesting this complex carbohydrate (grains with gluten) quite a task. Many of these hard-to-digest carbohydrates therefore remain undigested in the body. With the products of True Hemp, your pet does not run any risk. All treats are 100% natural, grain-free and contain the powerful ingredients of hemp.
